“Our investment criteria is ultimately pretty simple: we look for authentic game makers striving to improve player experience,” said Brian Cho, Head of Corporate and Business Development at Riot Games. This acquisition represents the expansion of a long-standing relationship, with Hypixel Studios gaining access to Riot Games’ experience in developing and publishing acclaimed, player-focused games. As development kicks into high gear, we’ll benefit from Riot’s resources, expertise, and experience while maintaining the operational independence that has enabled our success so far.” “Since our first meetings with Riot leadership long before their initial investment, we’ve found in Riot a partner with a similar commitment to empowering players. ![]() “We’ve been blown away by players’ response to Hytale, and Riot is the right partner to help us deliver a game that can live up to players’ expectations,” said Aaron ‘Noxy’ Donaghey, the newly appointed CEO of Hypixel Studios. In November, Hypixel Studios announced that it is planning for Hytale to be playable by everyone in 2021. The acquisition follows a monumental launch for Hypixel Studios that began with the announcement of its debut title, Hytale, which has amassed over 2.5 million sign-ups for its beta and millions of views on YouTube for its trailer. Founded in 2018 with support from an advisory group of angel investors, including Riot Games, Hypixel Studios is currently developing Hytale, a community-powered block game that combines the scope of a creative sandbox with the depth of a roleplaying game. It all sounds pretty fantastic, and I cannot wait to see the game in action.Ap- LOS ANGELES AND DERRY~LONDONDERRY, NORTHERN IRELAND - Riot Games, the game developer and publisher best known for League of Legends, today completed its acquisition of Hypixel Studios. You will be able to have access to the Model Maker, a suite of browser-based 3D modeling and animation tools that will allow you to create your own characters and items. The game will also ship with all manner of editing tools for people who like to get creative. Instead, it all has a history, a reason to be there and a reason to keep playing. I really like the sound of this at it makes exploration far more meaningful than just finding some dusty old tomb or tower. With a wide variety of scenarios available at launch, no two adventures will be the same. ![]() ![]() You might encounter a mage’s tower overrun with monsters, descend into an underground cavern, or take on a colossal boss monster. There will be mini-games to play, and quests to venture out on.Īs you traverse each generated landscape, you’ll piece together the history of the world through handcrafted adventure scenarios. You can watch movies together you can even MAKE movies together. Hytale looks like it wants to change that up by bringing a whole new social side to the experience. I always find myself interested in these types of games, but rapidly get distracted by other things, often because the games simply lack any real depth. The game certainly looks unique, if the trailer is anything to go off.
